C&C Cages
The cages that we 100% recommend and prefer our adopters to have
are the C&C cages, more information can be found at
www.cavycages.com.
They are CHEAP, EASY TO BUILD, EASY TO
MODIFY, have GREAT VENTILATION and most importantly are ROOMY.
A C&C cage suitable for housing two
guinea pigs (2x3 grid) can be made for just $30!
Supplies:
The "grids" or "cubes" have
been found at Big W, Bunnings and the Reject Shop. Currently they
only seem to be available at Bunnings in white only. They are around
$8 for a pack of six.
The corflute can be purchased from
plastic suppliers, averaging around $7-10 a sheet depending on the
size.
Cable/zip ties are also good for
securing the grids in place, especially if multiple stories are
made. They can be found at all hardware stores and most bargain
stores (usually around $2-4 for a pack of 100).
Rabbits:
This cages are also ideal for rabbits
but will need to be 2 grids high as opposed to the one grid high
needed for guinea pigs. I would not keep a pet rabbit in a cage
smaller than a 2 grid x 4 grid.
These cages are suitable only for
indoor use unless significant modifications are made. |
